Cellar door operators find data capture is Ezy

More than 300 wineries around the world utilize the Australian-developed winery management software package EzyWine to manage their business. The integration between modules means that data is entered once – be it in the vineyard, winemaking, bottling or plant servicing modules; this automatically flows through to the comprehensive accounting modules.
Nick Cugura, director of Ezy Systems Pty Ltd, spoke with Grapegrower & Winemaker about some of the newest enhancements to EzyWine and highlighted the new point of sale touchscreen interface (Figure 1), a recent development that has been embraced by cellar door sales staff.
Cugura said amongst the benefits of the touchscreen interface, users now have the ability to use the touchscreen and/or mouse to enter sales, customize sales item buttons for easy processing, enter multiple payment methods, access flexible pricing and discount structures, and monitor sales and orders for café-style cellar doors.
“The Club member facility that can be accessed through the cellar door interface, allows users to search their club member database, maintain club members, set up and maintain flexible rewards program and check stock allocations,” Cugura said.
In addition to the new cellar door sales functions, Cugura said an exciting project that has recently been completed is the interfacing with Pocket PCs (Figure 2). “This can be done either by downloading information onto the PC or directly accessing EzyWine’s main database across a wireless network” he said.
“Users can already utilize their pocket PC to enter a physical stock-take, view tank information, scan barrel barcodes directly into cellar operations and capture vineyard analysis.”
Cugura said feedback from users has been an essential part of the ongoing development to improve the functionality of EzyWine. This feedback has lead to some great enhancements including:
- Remote access
- Wireless access
- Hand-held pocket PC
- Touchscreens
- Barrel scanners
- Employee time clocks
EzyWine interfaces to devices such as weighbridge scales, weather stations, laboratory equipment, cash registers and remote warehouse printers. It also interfaces with other packages such as EDI, EFT, MS Excel, contract bottlers, eParcel, temperature control systems, email, Acrobat Reader, export documentation and freight companies.
EzyWine is an impressive option for wine producers or vineyard owners seeking integrated information technology solutions.
